More temptation... The LV-1 Phono Preamplifier is suitable for both moving coil and moving magnet cartridges. It offers load choices of 47k, 470 Ohms, 100 Ohms, and 220pF. Gain is switchable. All of this is done from the rear panel. The gain options are 40dB and 62dB.

During the development process Simon Brown took a couple of prototypes around a few people in Dunedin in order to get feedback in the context of phono stages of similar budget. The feedback was very good and also helped us to select which of the two units would go into production ("you" MW). I think one or two of those people are members here so I encourage you to share your impressions if you feel inclined.

I agree that it looks great with its clothes on! (MW and those of us privileged to have a play with a couple of pre-production versions have only seen it with its top off... Gary, the electronically salacious might like to see that sometime...) Ross has done a nice job with the case, I think the little cut in above the rear panel is really satisfying. I should explain that there will be a close relative of the LV-1 available as part of the upcoming Wand Turntable package. I have heard enough to be really proud to have the connection.

Fruition... Simon (Wand) provided the 2 prototypes (id'd as YOU and ME ) for me to listen to in my system. I've edited my reply to Simon to reflect my experience: " Gary is onto something quite special with this unit. As I noted, my dynavector 20x cartridge is the weakest part of my system (soon to be remedied), but I was mightily impressed on how both units accommodated its age and played to its strengths. Of the two units, YOU was my favourite in my (Sanders ESL) system - the soundstage was deeper, wider, with more precise placements. It had better impact and the dynamics were fantastic - especially on the Nik Bartsch/Ronin album (which to be fair is an impressive recent ECM pressing). The phono is very musically engaging: this is absolutely essential and it does this superbly. I just loved how music flowed seamlessly. Way better sounding than the 20x thru' my P75 MkII. I'm pleased that the phono (a version) is to be avail. with your WandTT/Arm. I bet this phono will really be a new benchmark."Bring it on: such superb gear from Aotearoa. And, stunning esthetic to match the superb sound. Congrats Gary.

Pricing to be determined in conjunction with the Soundline stores, but it will be competitive and within reach of most. We will have black as an option on the second production batch. Thanks for your interest. - Gary

Many thanks Foveaux, it was great to have all of the input we had in helping to make the choices between possibilities. I'm glad you enjoyed it. - Gary Fruition... thanks to gary for the opportunity to listen to the you and me prototypes.
i used my lyra delos into 47k.
cold out of the box they didn't sound that dissimilar, some music i preferred through the you, some the me.
as they warmed up, the differences became more apparent.
me had good soundstaging but the images were flatter, missing some body. bass was good, highs a little lean and on occasion edgy.
you was more immediate and better focused. open, coherent and engaging sum it up.
you don't get a cheap PA Vinyl but we finally get a worthy successor to the old plinius jarrah.

Thanks Michael, the consistency was what struck me. Without exception everyone preferred the same unit and described the differences in largely the same way.

I tried them also and preferred "you" also, sweet, clean and dynamic, and left me wanting more. The Panhead Supercharger of phonostages perhaps? (Hopefully at Mac's Interstate prices.)

As Simon Brown has mentioned in his thread both The Wand TT and arm and our LV-1 phono stage with our One integrated amplifier are present at RMAF this weekend care of David Cope of Old Forge Distribution. David is a man with a reputation for his room sound at shows, and has quite some experience. For 15 years he was the USA distributor for Audio Note UK, and he has a liking for simple, pure sounding systems. In his retail store he stocks the likes of Shindo and Sugden electronics and a selection of purist loudspeaker brands. The fact that, after audition, he has chosen to distribute our products in the USA is a rewarding endorsement of our efforts. We are very happy to be sharing this new journey with Simon and his products.

I have >no idea< how to upload images so that they are as intended. I know there is a procedure, but cannot find the details or recall what is required... Why doesn't the board's insert image option work?

Hi garym - when this forum started, we decided that we did not want to be a funded forum page because (i) we did not want to be reliant on advertising and/or commercial interests & (ii) we did not/could not want to fund this ourselves. We wanted a commercially un-biased, members-oriented forum site. So this is a 3rd party free-hosted site. Some of the (minor) downsides are... we accept the ProBoards host's advert banners & there is a limited (200MB) attachments storage limit. Many forums here choose to use an online image hosting site to upload their images - we have been using imgur.com. This is discussed/explained on the 'Forum Rules & Information' section, under Forum Navigation & Image Posting (see last post). And more recently in Forum Feedback. In short.... 1) Go to imgur.com & sign up an account/album, make it Private if you like. 2) Upload images at'15" monitor resize' 3) Copy the BB Code (on RHS) 4) Paste into you post here. (I will re-upload your image above to my imgur album.) (You can use imgbb.com too, as you have above, but imgur avoids the reduced-size thumbnails.)

If you use the “quick reply” option, the select image button doesn’t show up. But it does it you immediately go back and edit the post.
Is the LV-1 on sale in nz yet , and has a retail price been set?
Wish I could hear the set up at RM!

RMAF 2018: I spotted that Audiostream's Rafe Arnott (also Part-Time Audiophile, Inner Fidelity, Man. Editor AVTech Media) visited Old Forge Studio's room but was primarily interested in the digital system. However The Wand TT & Tonearm & PureAudio were mentioned & a really sub-standard pic of what looks like the PureAudio One integrated amp. I downloaded the image & gave it a photo tweak:
