FWIW, I've had 1.6s on the end of my Plinius 8150 (150w into 8 ohm). Got loud enough for me without clipping. But was lacking in low end slam. IME Plinius were not the best match for Maggies, 2x soft bottoms do not joy make
Maggies were made for big grunty SS amps, even then cones in boxes do the slam thing better

My MG3.5s and MG1.6s both liked an amp with a bit of control. That’s why I made the 100w class A single ended amp for them. 100w was enough power and current was limited to 7A, but the linear delivery of the current due to the class A operation made them sound more full. Big Maggies like the MG20 have a push-pull magnet system that results in more linear bass.

Steviewunda just pointed me to the thread. Wow. Awesome support guys.
I am a non-recovering audioholic, and Ivor is my higher power.

Steviewunda. Did you end up finding a preamp or amp? Interested in ncore at all? Output V from preamp would need to match reasonably. Have a 122mp (stereo) and 2 x 500mp.

Yes I bought a Hegel H190 which is sounding very nice - I also had my Phonak P90 hearing aids fitted last Thursday, and they are shaping up well too...I can distinguish the cicadas from my tinnitus ;-). The audiologist created a 'music' setting with almost no compression on the highs - sounds quite natural. I've downloaded the Phonak configuration software and ordered a Noahlink bluetooth device so I can tweak them at my leisure ;-)

Just sounded like a normal days tinnitus to me. Getting past time for a test.
