Hi all. Since moving house in 2012 I've tried several layouts for my Home Theatre before settling on having the screen above the fireplace. I thought I could live with the height of the screen, but 3 years later I've still not mounted my centre speaker properly. This is where I'm going to post an image, and as this is the first time I've done it on this forum it might be a disaster; so holding breath now!

Well, not a total disaster, but would have liked a larger image.

Also I hate the tiled fireplace, so my idea is to mount the screen at eye level and cover it up. I could just rip it out, but that's a bit more of an ambitious project than I was planning. This basic framework will support the screen and centre speaker. I've added the screen mounting bracket and created a cradle for the centre speaker.

I want to mount the centre speaker above the screen so I created this cradle. At the front I have re-purposed some 19" cabinet footers so that I can adjust the lower edge of the centre speaker to close couple it to the top of the screen. On the bottom of the speaker I have fastened a batten so that the speaker can't slide. That would not be a happy day. Here you can see the speaker in position, and next with the screen mounted.

Top effort! To preview, you need to post, have a read then if changes needed, click on the edit button. If you use quick reply you are unable to attach an image, which is where you need to hit edit again, and the button for images pops up!

And (for me) it does nothing.

We were having problems with our siamese spraying in the lounge. I was all about taking him to the vet to get put down. Calmer heads preferred other options. Our home is a double brick villa, built back when Jesus was a cowboy. The previous owners spent much time renovating (probably not the right term) the house. They removed the wall on one side between dining and living room as well as fully relining, installing double glazed windows, rewiring, etc; blah, blah, blah. What I would do myself if I could afford to pay someone else to do it for me. So, and only because it was cheaper and might save my marriage, I bought the first room divider to keep the furry little shit out of the lounge. Once I set it up, if sparked ideas about other things I could do. Honestly I had no plans for the Living Room prior to the room divider purchase.

Silly Question,
But doesnt having a big reflective surface like a TV in between your speakers muck up the soundstage ?

Glad to see I'm not the only one who has fought the battle against the furry pests. Years ago we had one that thought the cloth grills on my speakers were ideal scratching material. I shed no tears when I dug its final resting place and rolled a large rock onto just to make sure it stayed put. Not a cat person.

If you tempt a cat by providing an ideal scratching post for it, it's your fault not the cat's! Its a bit like blaming your wife for riding your bike without permission if you got a Chief or a Scout. Its just too much of a natural temptation
