Silly Question, But doesnt having a big reflective surface like a TV in between your speakers muck up the soundstage ? This room is for movies. I have an audio only system in another room. Actually the soundstage is quite good on 2 channel only material.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who has fought the battle against the furry pests. Years ago we had one that thought the cloth grills on my speakers were ideal scratching material. I shed no tears when I dug its final resting place and rolled a large rock onto just to make sure it stayed put. Not a cat person. Stereo Knight amps? Robin, I hate you! If you tempt a cat by providing an ideal scratching post for it, it's your fault not the cat's! Its a bit like blaming your wife for riding your bike without permission if you got a Chief or a Scout. Its just too much of a natural temptation Ha, by that logic I shouldn't blame my son for stuffing a tomato sandwich in the tape player, ideal posting slot he thought One reason I built my own escape room away from errant children and rogue pets. I did once offer my wife the keys to my Norton Commando(secure in the knowledge that she was too light to kick it over and too short to touch the ground.)

What I've decided to do is fit plywood panels tucked in behind each side of the screen spanning from the centre speaker to just beyond the tile fireplace, with a return that meets the wall. The plywood was scavenged from pallets. the only materials I've had to buy were the 100x50 framing and 25x25 battens. This bracket is made for the top left; the battens firmly straddle the framing. In position. Ditto for the lower left. In position. Plywood panel fastened to the brackets. View of the panel and return after having been lifted of the framing. The section cut out of the panel allows it to be slid out of position without disturbing the HDMI cable connecting screen to amp.

The right hand side is just a mirror image of the left although no cut outs were required for it. This panel fits below the screen and overlaps the left and right panels. The next image would show how it looks so far, except I never took that photo.

This where the bamboo screens come into play. I dismantled them and chose the widest straightest pieces and attached them to the plywood carcases with hot glue. I can attest that the glue is hot as I burnt my wee fingers several times before putting on work gloves. On closeup the finish is a little wonky. Similar to some craft items from third world countries. Pretty much what I was aiming for.

Now that I've applied bamboo to the panels, this is how the room looks as you enter. And from the other side

Silly Question, But doesnt having a big reflective surface like a TV in between your speakers muck up the soundstage ? A while ago my 2 channel was integrated with a HT system, placing a thick wool blanket over the plasma made an improvement of the soundstage.

what's happened between 2019 and now ? Lots has hppened Micheal. Specifically a year or so after buying the KN5 I had a chance to get a pair of Castle Avons. They were UK built whereas the KN5 were Chinese (although nothing wrong with that). The Avons were used in my workroom and were great until I bought the Kef LS50W2 when they become superfluous. I was going to sell the Avons when I happened to see a listing on TM for a Castle Keep centre which looked like it might be a good sonic and visual match for the Avons. One thing that I disliked about the KN5 and the Lincoln C2 centre was the dark mahogany finish but they were a great package deal ATT. The Avons and the Keep are cherry, plus regardless of the sound I like that these were built in the UK.

I remember the beautiful woodwork on Castle speakers when they were sold in PN.
Don't recall the model names but they were mid-size floorstanders with the upside down woofer/tweeter arrangement.
