Re TP splitter, surely you’d use double the amount of split TP as it’s half as absorptive? Citroen, which company is delivering your vinyl? As I have to send some items to NZ and want them to arrive...

FYI, Received a notification that one Amazon album on my price watch had dropped in price US$10. So added it to my cart but noticed that all my orders now had this message "This item does not ship to Auckland, New Zealand. Please check other sellers who may ship internationally. Learn more
Due to increased demand, we temporarily have reduced product selection available for delivery to your region. We are working to improve selection availability as soon as possible."

This is good.
I've substantially increased my vinyl listening... I run an active system and for the first time in a very long time sat down in front of the system to do some listening. My speakers are 3-way. I was annoyed, and could not work out why. The mid-range was way too forward. Eventually I checked the active X-over and found that the mid-gain was up too far, knocked it back 3 notches and suddenly things were balanced again. Then, taking a leaf from my Beeman visit, I shoved the speakers a lot closer together and the sound improved again. Much more coherent.
Memo to self stop running around doing stuff, with the stereo as background. Sit and listen once in a while. Strange the benefits of lock-down.

Will COVID-19 Take Out High-End Audio?Kenn Kessler (Soundstage! Hi-Fi) these days tends to be a grumpy audiophile, ranting on about his favourite hobby-horses. However, he makes perhaps some arguable points about the state of & future survival of High-End Hi-Fi... " As the ranks of retailers have already been depleted, will COVID-19 also perform the much-needed service of culling the herd of mediocre brands which do nothing for the industry or the community? " " I would like to see 50 to 75 percent of all the so-called high-end audio brands just go away, close up shop, vanish. And you know what? We would still have too many choices.
Ask yourselves this: in what galaxy do we need 200+ speaker companies, 300+ power amps, and 200+ turntables? In what other industry are Two Schmucks in a Garage with a Soldering Iron considered a “high end manufacturer”? "

Goodness Ken is a tad grumps...Not sure why he SO upset about all the audio manufacturers on the planet... Im sure he welcomed a good portion of them sending him gear to audtion and evaluate when he was in the business!!

I think this is going to bash everyone ALOT more than anything we have seen since WW2!! Its a global issue. Sars etc didnt effect on the planet as this little nasty is thats for sure!! Alot of the places where products would have been show cased are cancelled. Even if you could order an amp, speakers or what ever there arent any planes to get it here! Im glad I dont have any big ticket items for sale right now that is for sure.

QOBUZ Waives Download Revenue Share for Two Weeks – All Monies Passed to Rightsholders" France-based music streaming and download service Qobuz has launched a ‘giving back’ initiative named Gimme Shelter to help artists who’s livelihoods have been impacted from covid-19. The company is foregoing its cut of the profits on high-resolution downloads from its millions-deep, genre-rich catalog for the first two weeks of April. " See AUDIOSTREAM, 4 Apr 2020.

But basically, TV's are seen as 'essential'. I do understand if a family had 5 x kids and then, 23 days in... the TV broke, then you'd want to buy a new TV to replace the one that blew up / had a cricket ball thrown at it. What size the TV should be, who knows. Now can you make that argument with HiFi kit? "I NEED a new turntable, I NEED a pair of mono-blocks, I NEED a high-res music streamer". Probably not.
However there are HiFi distributors still selling everything they range - direct to members of the public and/or stores. Possibly not within the spirit of the regulations set forth by the government... just saying.

Does your system sound better now that the electrical and physical background noise floor has lowered?
Mine does, but I thought that it was due to the recent tweaks I did. But maybe its a combo effect.

Housekeeping things to do during this 'lockdown': - Degmagnetise your MC cartridge (An easy way, is to use Lyra designer J. Carr's method of simply shorting your phono ICs for a minute or so - but not Alnico magnet types, eg DL-103) - Clean your cable connector contacts. (While you're at it, shine up those tarnished 3-pin mains plug pins.) - Clean your vacuum tube pins (using Deoxit or similar cleaner-contact-enhancer). Tube sockets can be cleaned too (using 'pipe-cleaners' or mini-brushes made for this purpose. - All this cleaning provides cumulative small improvements that will be quite noticeable in total, if you haven't done 'housekeeping' for a while. - Tighten up the screws on your l'spkr drivers (the tweeters esp. can loosen up). Feel free to add...

Lube your turntable bearings?
Tighten speaker spikes (mine tend to work loose over time and can rattle) Snip off or clean my naked speaker wire terminals (amp end). Hard for me to get at so often ignored.
Wash my speaker panels...

Well, after a 3 month wait the mailman finally delivered my full set (9) of NIB 6JK6 tubes for the Marantz tuner.
Dropping to level 2 also meant the furniture restorer was able complete work on the original WC-1 wooden case. He did a really lovely job.
I'm sure it was all worth the wait, but it also certainly tested my patience!!!
