I like the crane-like strut construction, but what was that arm that came down from a much steeper angle, with a floating pivot cartridge mount? Could they be combined? Do you mean the Schroeder CB tonearm? No. the arm came down from the vertical raised pivot from some astonishing ~ 40-60 degrees, I forget, then the headshell flattened out, and the cartridge was free to rotate about a center mounting point.
I hope my memory will come back ;- thanks!

Sounds very interesting....hmmm Thought I might have seen it on Lenco Heaven years ago but searches there are so far fruitless. Determined to find it though. It looked good, interesting, and would lend itself to both crane and tangential arm construction, I'd thought. I'll keep looking ...

The only people who will be buying these will be Arabs to make their palaces look more glitzy, soccer players who play in the EPL,LeBron James, the Queen and rich Aucklanders who have found their property being worth more than the national GDP.

Ah, yes, thanks Jon;- I think that might have been it. There was something about the angle ( I forget ) that might have been significant. Not has high as I thought I remembered, but looks like it. Can you point us to any relevant Lenco Heaven thread? Thanks again;-

Can't find the thread on balsa wood tonearms so here's a stock photo
Edit: I was looking in the wrong place, derp !
That pic is a of very crude medieval looking, steam-punkish design. But as a beginner thought idea effort, hey!
(In 4th form Latin, tasked with making a Roman artefact, I made a creditable crossbow engine that fired a 6" wood small shaft with point embedded across a room.)
Thanks for the balsa wood tonearm link, that's what I'd remembered (and forgotten!). I recall thinking at the time, since Ponoko was getting started, how easy or not it might be to laser cut even more complex or iterating toward ideal crane designs, struts etc. in balsa.
If the heat of the laser chars the wood edges a bit, well, my fancy briefly extended to Yakisugi, but that's just with cedar, it seems. Else maybe just stain and lacquer it? But, as a future Mrs Beeton might have said, first design your crane! ;=})
[Edit] I had thought that a famous goose recipe started with "First catch your goose", and then later see it could have been hare or not at all. But, one would still need to design the ultimate strut arrangement crane shape, and how to go about that?
I recall a while ago reading about iteratively 'grown' fractal like ultra high frequency antennas, by computer, AI.
Anyway, back to Mrs Beeton:
Cheers !
Eeek! ;-)

Nice, nicely styled photos. The nearest you'll (or we'll?) get? ;-

Dave Whittaker made a balsa wood version of that crane like arm, gosh how many years ago would that be now. I remember seen it on one arm mount next door to the Kenwood LO7D arm
