Looked at an eames for my room, but too well damped sonically.

^ yep. nice chairs but too reclined for serious listening Actually, perfectly shaped I find.... Designed to allow many sitting postures. Just reclined enough & headrest provided for 'head back/closed eyes' if you wish. But headrest not so high as to block important secondary reflections Of course the unique glued rubber shock absorber connections & bent plywood combine to give just the right amount of firm flexure between seat & back Just enough lumbar support - firm, not too squishy. The leather, nice in summer or winter. Seat base is not so long or seat height not so high that you can't sit more upright with feet on floor, or when leaning in to check stage depth Armrests seemingly over-generous in size, but handy for locating notepad or pen. As said, the swivel is handy for dialling-in image focus, haha. The Ottoman - is luxury. Charles & Ray Eames in 1956 did a perfect design job I reckon. (Mine is only a modern replica, not genuine vintage Herman Miller like the woman above possesses )

Looked at an eames for my room, but too well damped sonically. I had a pal who would offer an open-framed upright listening chair & he would sit aside in a room doorway, in order to minimise sonic impact Still a good audio pal.

like speakers, your listening seat should be rigidly fixed in space.

Yes, great film. But nothing wrong with a Merlot, if combined with A Cab Sav.
And yes, those Eames chairs are quite comfortable!

An unusual space... Tall, a lot of rear wall & corner absorption/damping, could work well. Lighting helps.

We'd probably all like a big space like this. Esp. with those JBL Everests - although they look as if they could benefit from being pulled out a bit for listening.

Atmosphere wise, yes indeed. A fabulous space but I just can't help thinking what the heating bills would be!

I didn't know how 'relatively' shallow depth JBL Everests are.

specs say 467mm deep for everest dd66000
what always surprises with big jbl's is the lack of bass bandwidth
for $60-70k us i'd expect more than 45hz -6db

A friend has a pair of the 66000 and they are totally fantastic in every way. Cant comment on the stats sheet but Id have them in a flash!!

Not really a domestic room, more of a showroom, but impressive. Clearly a collector-hoarder-preserver of vintage hifi.

Epic indeed deano1974I'm a great believer in nice lighting to achieve the room 'ambience' that you want. (However I hesitate to use the term 'mood lighting' ) I admire the technology but I'm not sure if I care for this LIFX type 'smart-light' system/s with smartphone app-controlled LED lights, as installed by PF's Gary Beard. positive-feedback.com/audio-discourse/audiophile-decorating/Here's a review & more explanation of the LIFX system:

it's all rather garish, not at all conducive to fine listening.

George Cardas's listening room: Some extraordinary looking gear in Mr Cadas' listening room...I've never seen cables sitting on little wooden cradles like that either. What on earth was the insipid crap he was listening to in that remarkable space though?! ...Each to his own I guess ☺
