My discogs vinyl collection has a randomiser button, which I sometimes use to create a playlist or to rediscover albums I may not have listened to for a while. Here's my latest 10 to give you a slight indication of my musical taste.
Feel free to add your own 10 random albums, from discogs/spotify/excel/whatever so that we can share in what might be in your collections.
Tingvall Trio – Cirklar Peter Walker – Has Anybody Seen Our Freedoms? Elliott Smith – Either / Or Tom Waits – Bone Machine k.d. lang – Hymns Of The 49th Parallel The Phoenix Foundation – Fandango Eva Cassidy – Songbird Cuong Vu 4-tet – Ballet (The Music Of Michael Gibbs) Bonnie 'Prince' Billy* – Master And Everyone Dead Can Dance – Spleen And Ideal
I'm heavily jazz centric these days but seems that only a couple turned up in this lot. Someone once accused me of not listening to any "happy" music. I'm beginning to see their point...

A few I'm not at all familiar with in there Michael - Nanci Griffith, Yamashirogumi. Surprised to see Liz Phair. That Flaming Lips has to be my favourite of theirs. But Substance would have to be my pick.

nanci griffith is an audiophile fav, i recall being introduced to her by a certain scottish turntable maker ? her early records 1978-94 were the best, newer output borderline blah. good thing is her records are fairly easy to get hold of and have yet to be targeted by vinyl speculators. www.allmusic.com/artist/nanci-griffith-mn0000307875/discography

I agree Michael, Nanci Griffith's later stuff is pretty patchy. My go to albums are her 2 volumes Other Voices/Other Rooms from 1993 and 1998. She is helped out by some great artists (John Prine, Richard Thompson, Lucinda Williams …) who give both albums a boost

Nothing wrong with that. Just had a listen to Nanci Griffith – The Last Of The True Believers on Tidal but not really my thing.

Listened to about half of it but still not my thing. Apart from the traditional country vibe, it's mainly the voice that I personally don't like.

Ran a 2nd random list and still pretty boring, sad when I currently have 1200 items on the list(about half way) As a change of pace switched the view from A-Z to high to low and picked the top 10 with the highest sold price in NZ dollars. Always interesting to see what someone has paid. A couple of the Dylan sets on my list may come down in price as I believe they have both had recent reissues although first runs always command a better price. It's moments like this that I tell myself my records are an investment, then unfortunately the truth always intrudes. On the plus side I have paid nothing like the prices listed with my original purchase. I guess this sort of also works as a random pick.
Sand Denny -Words, Music etc 19xcd box set $1314 The Smiths Complete -huge vinyl/cd etc set $1124 Robert Johnson-complete original masters box $1117 Rolling Stones-Brussells Affair, lp/cd/book/poster/watch etc $1060 Neil Young Official Release Vol1-4-vinyl box $888 Rolling Stones-Mono box set $831 Dylan-Original Mono box set $741 Dylan-Rolling Thunder Revue(Classic Records) $741 Rise and Fall of Paramount Records vol2 $667 Jethro Tull-Aqualung 4xlp single sided Classic Records $652

The Smiths Complete -huge vinyl/cd etc set $1124 I passed on this one as it was about 250 pounds, and I had most of the studio albums already. The extras would've been nice though. I sorted by Medium price, low to high. I seem to have quite a few that have never sold on discogs, so zero sales history. Of the ones that do have prices -

I think I had one Smiths lp so the box set seemed a cheap way to get the lot. Looking back on Amazon sales history I paid 184 pounds for that one and 126 pounds for the big Sandy Denny box set. I remember quite a few on the Hoffman forum saying the Denny Box was too dear and they'd wait till it came down in price. This was one release where limited was limited. Gone in about two weeks or less.

Couldn't find the randomiser, so I took the ten most and least pricey albums, interesting:
I imagine that some of the content on the least valued list could fetch a pretty penny also.

Dunno, looks like the X13068 version, but has REV 10A/B on centre label K113A/B etching is present on runout but has a line through it and X13068A/B inscribed alongside. So I would say that this is the later pressing.

My highest sold is apparently the Beatles In Mono vinyl boxset I pre-ordered this from a couple of places, meaning to cancel the more expensive options but accidentally ended up with two copies. Sold my spare at cost, around $400 "Would've, could've, should've" kept it by the looks of the current sales!

The Terminals are a great Chch band with an impecable whakapapa, Solid Senders are a Wilko Johnson band - played after Dr Feelgood and before he joined the Blockheads.
