More I think A lack of activity on the forum as of late. A few of the more regular posters seemed to have dropped away, sometimes life gets in the way, rather than their being a genuine disinterest. YMMV

Thanks neilsan. Votes will display for all when the poll is closed - when, depending on participation numbers.

I would like to see participation from the next generation of audio / music fans. The next poll, how many members under 50yo and any female members. From my few observations on the next generation most of those into vinyl aren't too fussy about playback systems and a majority of those who do care about good sound are into headphones in a big way. Lifestyle and living changes over the last couple of decades are forcing some of those changes, smaller houses, apartments etc and so many more choices for the entertainment dollar.

i drop in here often but post only very occasionally. i don't have much expertise, but really appreciate some of the technical threads, particularly when someone is actually doing something with their system or gear. mine has reached a point where there won't be much change in the gear, but what i listen to, and the source used most often has changed significantly. i have decided to have a classical music only year, and it sounds best to me via digital as i find any surface noises intrusive.

Indeed, most millennials are time-poor (= short attention spans) & many are also $$-poor (paying rent or saving for a home).

Millennial's can be up to 39 years of age and can afford the hobby... Is it a hobby that is desperately un-sexy and lacking in a welcoming vibe for younger people?
Um...

Wow, that's a commitment! Expertise - one of the functions of this forum is to share & help with any expertise. I find that there's always something to learn - especially when you start forgetting stuff But beware of course, you know that an 'expert' is sometimes defined as 'someone who knows more and more about less and less until he knows absolutely everything about nothing'

especially when you start forgetting stuff i've stopped doing that - i can't remember a single time when i've forgotten something.

Just spent a couple of minutes doing a quick count via the members page and interested to see that 55 registered members have zero posts while 23 members have 100 post or more. That's around a quarter of the register who have yet to post and it would be enlightening to find out why that might be. I would hope that members don't feel intimidated by a lack of knowledge as an impediment. I've managed to rack up enough posts that demonstrate what a complete dunce I can be at times but the great thing about this forum is a general lack of judgement from other members unlike a couple of other forums I belong to, but rarely post on.

Yes totally, we like to hear about everyone's equipment, music/film and/or related interests. However, we accept that many members are happy to just catch up on discussion & news, by just viewing content. And others (the majority of visitors) are happy to visit to do same, without registering as a member. Hopefully, these poll surveys will help improve the desirable content here.

I enjoy this forum because it's very friendly, and don't really post on other forums for that reason. I love hearing about members' systems and experiences. Get posting, even if you think it's a silly comment! The inherent friendliness in this forum will ensure you're not intimidated. Well at least that's the theory! :-)
