Agree. But if it sells at that price it does raise the value of mine

Dont see many Citroens in my part of the world now. There used to be a couple of those slope backed, air suspended models floating (haha) about a few decades back but haven't seen one in many years. When we moved back from the UK in 1977 there was a young pharmacist renting a unit on the same property as us and he was running what could have been aTraction Avant of late 30's vintage. I know my wife was quite taken with it and the fact that it had running boards. Were they rare in NZ?

DS air suspension I haven't seen any Traction Avants for a while, not even at the Citroen garage. Last was a Light 15 about 5 years ago. Yes, I do wonder how many are registered in NZ.

A South Island Citroen CC member attended one of the many 100 Anniversary rallies in July this year. A few Tractions on display

Assembling a 2CV in under 5 minutes. Is it really that easy?

Haha, seems to be designed to not require any nuts & bolts & spanners or tools of any sort.. Even the engine, just sits in there, no bolts, just attach the driveshafts....

I never used to take much interest in the GS, but my Boss who is something of a citroen aficionado reckons that these were a fairly awesome machine. Smoothest running flat four hes ever had he reckons... Anyone got one ?

a friend had one in the 70s, reckoned it was better than his alfasud and renaults not as overtly sporting than the alfa but just as characterful and more relaxing to drive. i remember meeting the late alec isbey in the early '80s who repped his hifi wares in one.

don't recall any sports model,
there was a rotary version, with a mighty 79kw/106bhp.
regular gs had between 41kw/55bhp to 45kw/60bhp.

My accelerator cable broke this morning, thankfully not while driving. Strangely this has happened to me before. Maybe I have a very heavy foot! Citroen guys were great, came round 20 minutes later and replaced the cable straight away.

I had a Citroen GSA for maybe 5 years and compared to an Alfasud I had earlier I preferred it as a more relaxed drive while still sporty. One small minutiae was mine had the factory sun roof which I thought impinged slightly on head room. And there was a sports variant the X2 that actually had alloy wheels which I would've liked as I found the plastic wheel trims a bit noisy. But my brother once told me his school mate's mother had the earlier smaller engined GS (1015cc or 1220?). Apparently that one would do 7 or 8000 rpm :=} small is usually sweeter, in hi-fi and cars.
the 1015 gs motor made its max 55bhp at 6500rpm so 7000 may have been possible but 8000 is schoolboy fantasy
had a mate who had a mk2 Escort Sport 1.6 who thought it would rev to 7000 (no redline on tacho, no rev limiter like a Capri 3.0 V6 that physically dis-enagaged the distributor arm to limit revs lol).
he tried it one night, you could hear the valve bounce a mile away.

Citroen broke down on the way to the airport in the fast lane. Coughed and spluttered, stalled then stopped.
Thanks to the two kind gentlemen who pushed me to safety and to the police officer who suddenly appeared out of nowhere to chaperone my stay on the side of the main road to the airport (apparently my breakdown was caught on their cameras) until the towie arrived.
Fearing the worst, turns out it was only a loose ignition wire connection...
