i had an original - it broke so gave it away. also had a later 3020i - great phono stage - not embarrassed by a koetsu rosewood. but also died, gave it away and the guy fixed it ! still in use as his daily preamp feeding diy tubes.

I had a 7xxx something? receiver. Brilliant piece of kit, long since gone to a better home.
I inherited a 3130 which is now gathering dust. Can't recall what its phono section was like, but it was used with the NAD 3120 flat arm turntable running Mission bookshelf speakers, I think in my brothers bedroom system.

Yes, had one. Nice but flimsy, not the best build quality, the horizontal input panel always felt like it was going to collapse every time you plugged something in..... and it eventually broke. The follow up 3020i was much better built and was quite delightful. Should have kept it

My sister still uses a 7xxx receiver. Never had a 3020, but the one I always rated was the 314, which IIRC was 35w/ch. Quite a sweet sounding amp.

As a dealer in the UK for NAD (New Acoustic Dimension), as manufacturers/distributors they were very much like their products. Not flashy, solid, dependable, honest, affordable and quick to respond. A pleasure to deal with. I have seen and heard the 3020 and its children at the heart of many great little systems. More importantly, I have seen it spark a love of audio that has endured and burned for years. Priceless.
I am a non-recovering audioholic, and Ivor is my higher power.

The NAD 3020 is a legend and IMHO, it does the midrange as well as the best boxes in the business - which means if you're into vocals, you need to try one! (And it has a MONO button!!!) My beloved 3020A is now on TradeMe. This has been such a great amp that has never missed a beat. Everytime another "better" amp has failed, I have secretly cherished my time with the NAD. ("Yeah, just take your time fixing that tube amp, Clarry! No mad rush...") We're off to live in Sydney so "It's time to declutter". Don't you love it when your wife says that? Out go all of those hidden collectables... I can attest to the sound coming through the NAD 3020A via the MM PHONO input - sourced from my ORIGIN LIVE DC LINN LP12 / SHELTER 501 II / A23 SUT - to be absolutely first class! Considering I normally use a pricey, all LEBEN, tubed set-up, I think this is high praise indeed. The NAD is particularly good at driving sealed box (Infinite Baffle, etc.) speakers. I know that ported speakers are all the rage these days - and the NAD drives them too - but I still think that sealed speakers do something rather special. Hard to describe the sound, but I know it when I hear it. For anyone who might be keen, the NAD 3020A is a particularly good match for my gorgeous (Infinite Baffle) CELESTION DITTON 250 speakers, which will also be coming up for auction, soon. Anyways, my photos are all too big to attach here (pity) so here's a link. These days, it's actually quite hard to find a nice clean 3020 machine with a nice unmarked faceplate, so I think someone will jump on this one quick - they way I jumped on it! Well, our NAD 3020A sold this morning. She's about to head out on a big whirlwind adventure, down South. I just can't speak too highly of this little amp. She'll be missed!

(Owen, why do the pics on this forum looks so poor? The original photo - even reduced from 1.6MB to 350K - still looks fine. But once pasted up, it's all a blur... )

OWEN
Thanks for tweaking the photo. I dragged and dropped as directed, so I'm not sure what went wrong. I'll have a read of the link you sent me. As an aside, I also have a lot of formatting issues on this website. Not sure if it's just me but varying the zoom doesn't seem to fix it. Is it just me?

You're probably right about our NAD 3020A achieving top dollar at $NZ575. But then again, we can't easily replace it for $NZ550, which is what we pocketed after deducting the TradeMe fees. At $NZ575, I still think it was a bargain! A very good thing that we don't have to replace it for $NZ550...
