My brother is a keen garage saler so I received a text from him yesterday at 6.05am: “At a garage sale, Sansui AU-999. Can probably get it for $30. Interested?”

Umm .... yes! So for the grand total of $40 I now have this extremely good condition amp. All I’ve done is wipe off some dust.So far everything works. I think I’m going to put a bit of money into and get someone to recap etc. I’m actually trying not to be a collector but am going to make an exception in this case.

My wife likes the look of it but protested that she has only just mastered the current amp.

My first stereo was an all Sansui system based on the AU217 amp. Sold ages ago to my brother-in-law.

Often thought about buying some more though.
