I'm a bit gutted to have missed this....
NZ pianist/composer, Jonathan Crayford has facilitated the NZ purchase of an historic 1955 Hamburg Steinway grand piano & this is being toured around the country, to provincial small venues with good acoustics & at affordable prices.
I am told that this is possibly the best sounding Steinway grand to have ever been heard in NZ & that the sound is 'glorious'.
The tour will go on throughout April, with Sth Islad & Wgtn dates remaining, Crayford playing different genres of music, see:

Annual tours of this piano are planned, with different pianists, eg Michael Houstoun possibly, next year.
If any Sth Isld members catch this, a report please.
It will be worth it, sonically just to hear this rare instrument.
