Finally got around to seeing this Oscar-winning doco. Was expecting a tough watch, but Asif Kapadia's film was fundamentally sympathetic.
Enjoyed the focus on her lyric-writing, her foundational jazz-soul instincts & the continuous dialogue from family members, her managers, producers, musicians & friends.
Highlights?
In the studio, duetting with Tony Bennett.
And the closing soundtrack rendition of the nicest version of 'Valerie' by Amy, that I've heard.
Minor disappointment:
Didn't get to see her doing 'Me & Mr Jones',

"Of all the contemporary artists I've worked with, she has the most natural jazz voice. Her phrasing and tone – she's got it." - Tony Bennett
