I'm a very happy 2Qute owner. I wonder what kind of jump in performance this new box from Chord brings? They seem to be on a mighty roll as far as audio companies go. I think Rapallo have the Qutest coming for NZ$2629 with the 2Qute at $2399.

Headfonics compares the Chord Qutest with other competitive products. " Gosh, what is there not to like about the Qutest as a pure DAC? Whilst not a total carbon copy of the Hugo 2ās DAC signature it still resolutely detailed and fantastically natural sounding with just about any amp I can throw at it. " Price - Ā£1195 / US$1895 / NZ$2499

The qutest is a superb dac and even more exceptional when combined with the new M Scaler We were lucky last Thursday to experience this duo Robert Wong for Chord Electronics bought it into Rapallo for a demo

Darko's video review emphasises that the Qutest DAC may require careful matching to suit personal tastes. " Chord's Qutest is *the* DAC to beat at US$2K "

Ok, so, it seems like higher resolution connectivity between Bluesound Node 2i and Chord Qutest is not amazing. Confessionā¦ I have no hi res content - but for $2.5k I wouldnāt mind the option in the future. Bluesound outputs digital RCA coax or toslink (optical). No USB output, yet. Remaining Qutest options are the BNC connection, or toslink. The BNC connection on the Qutest seems to have higher āpotentialā spec for hi-res stuff, compared to the toslink. Is that a limitation of the connection, or particular to this implementation? So, Iād need to find a decent and appropriately priced RCA to BNC 75ohm cable. Any recommendations? (Yep. I do know you can get a BNC / RCA adaptor plug, but that seems like a compromised connection to my old-school thinking). By all means, please let me know if I have not presented the facts correctly. I appreciate that the Qutest is a great product and all that, it just doesnāt seem to be an ideal match for the Node 2i in terms of connectivity.

AFAIK, BNC is just a more secure connection as it locks on better than a simple push on RCA plug. No difference otherwise.
I used an adapter plug on my Metrum DAC.

I have a Chord Qutest and feed it with Bluesound Node 2i. Generally only stream Qubuz. I use Oyaide DB-510 (BNC-BNC) digital cable with a BNC to RCA adaptor for Node 2i.

Thanks curiousgeorgenz Is your cable like this one? www.trademe.co.nz/electronics-photography/home-audio/cables/auction-3239432051.htmUsing a push-on adaptor plug seems like a bit of a shame after spending $800 on a cable with locking plugs, but good to know BNC and RCA use electrically compatible connection protocols. š

Yes, same cable. I have 1.3m cable and it definitely didn't cost me anywhere near $800.

The other plus with BNC is it maintains a 75 ohm cable's impedance.
Most RCA plugs don't.
