This remarkable product deserves a few words....
" The best sound in the world " - Devialet.
An active, wireless loudspeaker with in-built amp/DAC, has been turning heads since introduction in 2015.
Pricing starts at US$1700 (each) for the regular Phantom, not extraordinary in the audiophile market.
But is sound quality up to audiophile tastes?
The higher priced Silver Phantom & Gold Phantom models feature more watts & reportedly better sound quality.
The Silver Phantom (US$2400) & Gold Phantom (US$3000).
(NZ prices are $2200, $3990, $4990.)
The spherical form gives wide, uniform dispersion over the wide area, near-omni-directional, they say.
Wide bandwidth & impressive LF power is possible via the in-built amps (& EQ-ing I guess)...
The Gold model is specified down to 14Hz -6dB) without subwoofer.
So, the Phantom will appeal to bass-heads:
I have yet to see a detailed review by the usual recognised audiophile review publications (the Phantoms are not aimed at the audiophile market?), but here's a rave by photographer/audiophile, Steve Huff:
