Read of the death of Fats, aged 89, in NZ Herald this morning.
Will be be playing some of his music today in remembrance. In about 1958/59 our neighbour taught me the basics of rock n roll dancing, dancing along to Fats singing On Blueberry Hill!

I was lucky enough to see Fats' house in New Orleans in 2015, which was devastated in the 2005 Hurricane Katrina. It's in the infamous Lower Ninth Ward part of NOLA, which was the most heavily flooded, with water levels of up to 3-5m high. Now restored. A NOLA native, Fats was initially reported to have perished, but survived & was respected for being amongst those celebrities who did not abandon the city during the difficult time.

rip Antoine Dominique Domino Jr. amazing to think that both fats and chuck berry both came from the same area at around the same time and both did the whole crossover thing but in quite different ways. NOLA - louis armstrong too! i really loved Treme, especially the music. amazing place.
i hope the parades are big and loud, the music wonderful and the people joyous!

" When I die, you'd better 2nd line!" I expect they'll 2nd line for Fats. I look forward to seeing footage of Fats's funeral parade, it'd be good to be there for that.
