I was reading the latest EVO magazine and saw a piece on Belmoto watches. Does anyone know the company ? Website says based in Herne Bay, Auckland. Uses Seiko meca-quartz movements, priced from $500USD Not bad looking. Attachments:

Hi Rocl,
Waltham dial with a Hamilton Movement and case ? I take it the movement is actually swiss ?
American watches are a fascinating subject, I've not got many apart from a 50's Benrus, but theres been a couple of Elgins on TM that I've fancied.

No,just a staff up on my part where I didn't look carefully enough. I have both watches and another three. A zenith is the only Euro I have. The Waltham is an early Vanguard and unusual as it only has 19 jewels. Most have 21 or23 although the extras are of dubious benefit.

michael - it is embroidery thread woven in the style of the friendship bands of a while ago. if these watches hit the ground, they die. this thread is easy to hold and not slippery. in the "old days" the use of chains was common, sometimes with a leather patch with a slit for a button to go through.
