How does it compare for the usual cheap digital scales. I get annoyed having to reset mine to zero with a supplied weight nearly every time I use it, cheap and a bit nasty. I like the idea of the Rega's curved front so you"re setting the weight at a similar position each time.

Read the review, looks good and sick of my $60 Ebay version so placed an order to uptown Palmerston North. Now that I'm swapping a few cartridges between two arms a tool that does the job without fuss is very worth while.

the rega seems more stable than my chinese canrong arm load meter. rega recommend removing your turntable mat before using, but what if your table has no mat ? on a flat surface the rage measurement pad is slightly higher than the alm. a lot higher if you use the alm on top of your tt mat. photos are of the vtf set at 1.75 with the rega followed by measurement with alm on naked platter and on top of my 3.7mm herbies mat. why did you order from palmerston north (image audio) ? do they have it in stock ? mine came direct from the nz distributor, real music company in wellington. they got their first shipment last week. cheers.

Image were the only ones showing in stock when I did a quick goggle search for the item in NZ. Don't have a mat on the Project so that's not a problem. The generic one I have is similar or the same as your Chinese one. Every time I use it I seem to have to reset the thing back to zero using the 5gm weight and the process doesn't always work first, or 2nd time round. At the moment it appears to be reading 4.96 instead of 5gms which doesn't fill me with confidence.

Seems I may have been mistaken about Image actually having the Atlas in store. Looks like they list everything on their site as being in stock, either they have an incredible range or they mean that it's in stock at the importer.Never mind, a couple of extra days here or there wont make any difference.

Bit late updating this but pleased with the Atlas. Very quick and easy to use. I like the fact that the curved base plate means that you're always checking in the same position and the little dimple to fit the stylus in means easily repeatable measurements. Looks like no more shagging about resetting and calibrating as I always had to do with my old scale. Actual measurements between the two are very close but the Atlas saves a lot of cursing and keeps my blood pressure down. I don't appreciate tools that dont work correctly first time . When I was in the workshop I never had issues paying money for good tools. I'd say the Atlas is in that tradition.

For anyone needing an electronic gauge I highly recommend the Rega one. Not cheap but good things generally aren't. Really like the fact that the curved shape of the Rega means you're aligning it with the curve of the platter and using it in the same position every time. www.rega.co.uk/atlas.htmltheaudiophileman.com/rega-atlas/
