Hi geeks and it's sacrilegious, I know, but time and pressure and money mean I'm spending less and less time in the hot seat and more and more time streaming in the garage, in the kitchen, in the bedroom and I need a dac. Cheap. Cheap as chips. Free would be best but no one loves me quite like that t'would seem. I'm on a total spending lock down ordered by Mrs Heathen (and not without good reason) and I still owe poor old guitardude $6-700 for some gear I removed from his place a good 18 months ago... so this has to be cheap. It doesn't need to be mind blowing, I just want to get a little more out of the wee systems I have dotted around the place - so a reasonable degree of portability would be nice but isn't a must. It may yet end up living in the garage tacked onto the Bastard Bose and if that turns out to be the case, life expectancy won't be high. Any thoughts? Any pointers? A number of cheapies on Aliexpress I'm looking at but anywhere else I should be looking? Anything else I should be thinking of? Cheers, J

HA, TOLD YOU CD'S SOUNDED BETTER ! I'm sure none out there needs to know the details of our financial agreements bud but apart from that drop colinf a line, I think he had some outboard DACS he was playing with ?

Do you need a USB dac, or just coax/optical in? I have a very small USB dac here I bought in Hong Kong a while back that I've never used. It's the size of a USB memory stick.

Hi colinf, USB would be ideal. I keep meaning to get in touch with you to see if you're willing/able to take a look at my MF A3 btw... As for you guitardude, you may be right... but wash your mouth out old man!?
