Pros:
- Zero Tracking Error
- Zero Skating side-force
Cons:
- Noise (pump noise with air-bearing type linear trackers, typically requiring remote pump location).
- Dust (can be a problem with some air-bearing types, although I have not experienced this).
- Short arm wand, typical of linear trackers, can make the tonearm more sensitive to VTA variation.
- Cost? (the cheapest commercially available linear tracking tonearm I know of is US$640 (with air-pump, the Adanalog MG-1)
