Is anyone aware of somebody with a valve tester in Tauranga?
If not, how about Auckland?
Cheers Ben

I have a valve tester, Gryffles, but....it is undergoing some calibration & some servicing. What valves do you have & for what end use?

Owen YI have a few that I'd like tested. Some I am going to sell and some for my own purposes To sell 1x RCA 5691 3x RCA 7025 (12ax7) For myself 2x E88CC Siemens (phono stage) 8x ECC83 all rare long plates (phono stage) I think thats it.

Why do you think they need testing? (The ones you are keeping.)

I'd like to make sure they are balanced and are at the levels stated when I purchased them.
Recently had an experience of receiving valves that were near enough worn out when they were supposed to be near new.
After that I'd like to put my mind at rest. Not that all these are from the same chap, however, two are.

Re. 'balanced' or 'matching' - the requirement or importance of this depends on the circuit schematic. eg. If say a twin-triode valve has its 2 sections shared across 2 channels of a amp stage, then matching is usually helpful. OTOH if the 2 sections are not performing identical functions, then matching internally is not usually critical - although you may wish to match 2 valves. 'Matching' is also a broad term - covering 'static' or simply an 'emission' current reading. However, testing can also measure how the valve behaves dynamically - which some regard as being more telling - again, the importance may depend on the circuit. Additionally, valves age & change over time!
