GS used to rubbish anything people owned when he had his shop. One person I avoided.
From Hawkes Bay Today newspaper today. Fat Freddy's Drop player Scott Towers says the resurgence of records has been a great thing for music creators and lovers. "We love records, and we love committing our music to vinyl, because there's no way around it-unless you've got a very, very good digital set up-the records do sound better. When you hear a record off a good sound system, all of a sudden you're hearing bits of the music that you've never heard before when you've been listening to digital music."
Yeah right! Off his phone perhaps!! I know from recording vinyl through my Korg 10R onto pc and burning it back onto cdr I really can't tell the difference when comparing them, swapping over while playing both. Not that I tried too hard to hear any difference.I do know that having downloaded the odd Abba for my granddaughter I prefer the sound off vinyl. But that's to do with the quality of the download.

Dear me...
"Very rude owner. Was not helpful at all and told me my record player was a piece of junk."
"Rudest service we have ever received from “just for the record”
"Stay away! This guy is a self-satisfied, arrogant know-it-all who would rather lecture any poor fool".
"After the most condescending and arrogant service I have ever had"
"The owner is someone I never wish to meet again, he was terrible. I was just trying to browse out of curiosity what records were on sale and they do have some great records. But he insulted me for not knowing what things were and not being an expert on turn tables, told me I may aswell not even look around the store"

I kinda agree with him..."sheepishly cowers"
At the low cost end digital is certainly way better than vinyl. And probably even at the mid range, dollar for dollar. But then vinyl takes over. IMHO but at that stage it really is just a matter of personal preference.

From the sound of FFD records I don't think they have heard a good system...

I remember Gordie yelling at a customer who went in looking for an amp with tone controls. It was pretty amusing, not for the customer, or for Gordie... clearly. For me however(lurking at the back of the store) it was really quite funny.
I don't believe he was made for dealing with the great unwashed...

A record guy I know used to work for GS. When my returned records arrived GS was apoplectic, he looked like he was going to have a stroke. He wasn't mates with the other Napier hi-fi shop either.
