Now Quad have announced new 33, 303 for the 21st century

Why the digital display and glowing buttons on the 33... I loved the colour combo of the original 33, why couldn't they lightly refresh that. The 303 looks ok.

To modernise ? I liked the look of the old 33/30 but the sound was meh. Awful on the old ESL57's

Let's not confuse today's market-place with that of the past. I sincerely doubt too many people complained about the sound of the 33/303 when it was launched in 1967.

Yes, I loved the style of the 33 preamp. I'm sure modern (Chinese) Quad will be on to it sound wise. My understanding is that the 303 was way better soundign than most early transisitor amps and didn't burst into flames either.
