British Phonographic Industry (BPI) provisional 2023 report:
"...in the UK, CDs still outsell vinyl 2:1." - 11 million CDs. 5.9 million vinyl LPs.
"We also learn from the BPI that streaming makes up 80% of the UK music market." (Hmm...reflecting on Peter0c's post on the future of physical media)
To date I have only made a few digital album buys, but I have ripped all my CDs onto my server. Despite the steep price of vinyl, it's still my preferred media. However my vinyl buys nowadays are just the artists I'm a fanboy of.
"I see music as a lifetime affair." [Rory Gallagher]
"Free - I miss that band, but when I look back, we were very young" [Paul Rodgers]

With Facebook groups as a measure CD is still very strong in terms of players held but most hi-fi people tend to cover all the formats as much as part of the hobby. You can see why so many CD players are still made and sold but video disk formats are fading away. I’m the same with physical disk buys of favourites only.
