I've just had a numer of updates applied to my April 2017 Perreaux VP3 Phono stage.
Gain switch isolation: In some situations the MM Gain and MC Gain switches interact which causes unexpected gain setting on the selected input. If only 1 turntable is connected, then setting the unused (MM or MC) gain switches off ensures this error can not occur. If two turntables are connected, it is advised to perform this modification.
Mono modification: The VP3 mono mode takes the signal from the right input and outputs to both right and left. The modification connects both right and left inputs and outputs monaural to right and left.
ESD mitigation: Low capacitance TVS clamping diodes are fitted across the inputs. In some turntables the grounding method allows static buildup and this can discharge through the VP3 inputs to ground.
I'm told by the Service Tech these modifications are incorporated into all new VP3s.
It's interesting as I have experienced the Mono right channel issue personally and at the time thought it was a weird implementation. Also experienced the static buildup issue, which was the main reason it went in.
