Ever seen A Boy and His Dog ? A weird little sc-fi film based on a Harlan Ellison story with a very young Don Johnson www.imdb.com/title/tt0072730/

Yeah, only the Original Trilogy is worth watching I went to see the original Star Wars movie when it first arrived in NZ as a kid with my Nana. She saw that Alec Guiness was starring and thought it might be a serious drama. Boy was she disappointed. She didn't understand what the fuss was about, and that the 'paint by numbers' style of dialogue would grow to become part of the charm for a seminal movie that was aimed at a younger audience, but transformed movie making thereafter. Andor on Disney+ is the best thing I've seen from the franchise since those original Star Wars movies. Reading Dune later at high school was an ideal introduction to more complex political motivations and layers in a sci-fi/fantasy story and still remains one of my favourite books. My daughters enjoyed the recent Dune movie remake, but that may just be because Timothee Charlamet is in it...

I prefer David Lynch's version. TC was better in The french Dispatch Back in Ye Olde Dayz even big movies got a staggered release around the country so we all jumped in the car and drove down to Wellington to see Star Wars.

I walked out of the movie theatre half way through that original drivel. Just wasn't in the mood. Even Lynch disowned some cuts of that movie.

TC was best in Beautiful Boy, with Steve Carrel

I thought the opposite. They are over-thinking the whole John Wick thing, It worked in the movies because nothing needed explaining. Prequels generally suck and this is no exception ! Watched the three John Wicks this week. Lots of unbelievable shootings/fights, all well choreographed but always missing the target, but getting all the infantrymen first go. I got bored with all the gunfights. The prequel is more considered and not so much mindless shooting! John Wick 4 - more mindless fight scenes, with little plot. Only saving grace was the slight twist at the end.

Slow Horses season 3 has started on Apple TV
Good news, thanks.
I gather they follow the books quite closely, which I read all of as I discovered them, so the next should be just as good to see.

I too have read all the books. About to start on season 1. It's always interesting to see how the characters you've followed on the page for ages appear on the screen. Usually a disappointment, keen to see how they manage the farting punctuation.

Not seen the movie (yet) but this was very good.
A day or so in the life of a restaurant under high pressure (or normal reality for any restaurant?).

I flicked on the TV last night and the very latest season of Star Trek Discovery was playing on Duke.
Season 5 !
Last time I tried watching this I could barely get through the first three episodes of S1.
How time flies !

Seems like I haven't watched any TV as TV (Freeview etc.) for well over a year, and it's not even unpacked yet. But I have watched a few films on the laptop, soon to be superseded by a Sony 32" monitor/TV at the glass desk. Talking of weird & slightly sci-fi, I might have to watch Asteroid City again;- I had to break it into two parts, too tired. www.google.com/search?q=asteroid+city+movie+2023Cheers!! ;=})

Sugar looks good but I don't have a subscription.
Watching first episode of Fallout and not sure if I want to invest any more of my time to it.
