As I've mentioned a few times I'm working at selling my lps and had talked with Owen about a listing here but linking to my Discogs page. There's still something like 700 lps and box sets to go, far too many to list here to the correct pressing etc. If any member is seriously interested please pm me and I'll give you the relevant info . You will need to be a Discogs member but signing up is easy and costs nothing. Lps range from classic 60s rock to Americana. Still some releases from Mobile Fidelity and Classic Records along with original UK and USA pressings . Quite a few remain unplayed . Pricing depends of the release, condition and in some cases collectability.

As stocks are shrinking moments of regret surface so I thought I'd put around twenty of my special albums aside as keepers. How did that work for me...well the keeper pile has reached around 150 and a few box sets have gained extra allure as their siren song teases my ear. Dropped around 25 at a local op shop this morning. Some artists have reached their use by and not worth the effort of listing despite the records being in good condition. Probably donated around 70 in total and make a change to their usual stock.

I agree about some artists have reached etc. subjectively, but one's use by could be another's best before?
For listing (say even here to be seen, bid on, or postage plus a tip?) I'd thought one could take a steady pic of horizontally stacked LPs so that you could read the edge titles. Make widescreen if only a few.
Oh well;- Good for treasure trove hunters out there wherever you are ;-) Good job, why not? ;=}) Cheers ~

Last year I tried to sell six Emmylou Harris on TM for $30. All in excellent condition. Tried three times without a nibble so off to the op shop. Last bunch included the likes of Ian Hunter, T Bone Burnett and Joe Ely. Many were $2 records back in the day and I feel not worth a try now.
Time spent checking , photographing, listing plus the cost of a mailer and bubble wrap and fees of course all need to be factored in. I also vac clean nearly all sales and fit a new inner. A $10 lp doesn't get a look it.

You never know what will sell. I listed 60 albums on TM last month with asking prices between $5 and $100. 25 of those sold on first time around (about 40%) so I was quite pleased, also pleased with the $1k+ return that enabled the oscilloscope and active xover purchase, but best of all was watching the bidding wars that erupted over some choice pieces. Strangely some compilations seemed quite attractive to bidders as did a nudie Jimi Hendrix. So the TM route, IME, while time consuming, can be rewarding.
We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.

Got a 3 lp Led Zep bundle ending tonight. With 48 watchers it's probably attracted the most interest of any auction I've done. Strong interest and bidding on some items like 90s Neil Young vinyl. Much better is getting the return customers X TM who buy bulk . Building and keeping relationships works well for both sides.

About Right 😏 49 watchers and 2 bidders. TM can be a strange affair.

They're still leaving and I wipe away the occasional tear. Collection is now down to 1962 in all physical formats from a high of 3360. The keepers bins keep expanding . Might call a halt for this year when it reaches 1900.

You are a braver man than me!
I've sold about a dozen, and most of those were some form of duplicate.

The only thing I've ever had long term regrets after selling was my Norton Commando after 15 years ownership.
Another bunch to the op shop this morning. One gent heading out the door did a quick u turn and headed for the counter . Some reasonably sellable records from Queen, Hollies , Manfred Mann and T Rex plus a large Beach Boys box set. Mostly common lps though and not worth the trouble of listing.

I see NZ Post has raised their prices today. I've used their XL track packs as the bubble wrapped LP mailers fit inside very nicely. Last year they cost $11. Until yesterday they were $13.80, now $17. Did some calculations and it's cheaper to buy some plain mailer packs for less than $2 each and get the parcel collected from my door by a courier saving in some cases $5 or $6 depending on courier. All seems a bit silly to me but anything to keep costs at a reasonable level. Freight is one reason that I usually list cheaper records in a multi buy bundle to make it worth while for the buyer and myself.

I've been giving mine away to op shops as well. Except I've got some that are worth more than that! Where do you get your plain mailer packs from, cooksferry? I've also been using TradeMe to book couriers for stuff I haven't sold through TMe. Cheaper than going to the postshop or a book-in place in town for couriers.

Going to replace the NZ Post XL mailer with these I hope christchurch.opd.co.nz/product/sealed-air-shurtuff-mailing-bag-protective-mailer-st5-w420-x-l450mm/4501789?search=mailerGoing to check them out tomorrow but the size is good and OK price. Office Max also have something similar www.officemax.co.nz/Packaging-Mailing/Parcel-Bags-Mailers/Non-Padded-Mailers/Jiffy-ST5-ShurTuff-Mailer-420x450mm-Pack-of-10-2632853?SearchID=94373023&SearchPos=31The TM book a courier service is excellent and I've used it a lot and I like the choice of having two companies to pick from. I've never had a problem with Aramex, used them for over 20 years when I was working . The pricing differences between them and NZ Post can be quite substantial once you start shipping between islands. Always use NZ Post for RD though as Aramex just go to the nearest town and transfer to a local RD delivery agent and it can add up to a week to delivery and unhappy buyers. The best thing I've done for sales is getting my Discogs collection up to date. I sell a lot to people browsing the collection and away from TM and can link to the correct pressing on TM which saves a lot of time dealing with deadwax warriors. Selling on TM is Bloody time consuming though . There are times when the idea of a bulk listing appeals but more difficult from my end of the country.

I use the soft mailers along with the RG lp mailers . Bubble wrap the records put them in a lp mailer then bubble wrap that before encasing in a soft mailer. Seems to work and going by my TM feedback buyers appreciate the extra care. The 2nd lot of lp mailers are definitely cheaper but freight can bump that up. I always do a big order with RG and get club discount and free shipping.

Ah ha, that makes sense.
I've had records from sellers who just use a bubble bag or even plain flat bag
I use cardboard mailers + any internal packing as required and stick into an NZ Post prepaid bag.
Not the cheapest route but the fixed rates make it easy to quote.

Might call a halt for this year when it reaches 1900. So much for good intentions. Collection probably down to 1850 by the end of this month. The keepers bins have ballooned out to around 330 plus another 30 plus vinyl box sets. Might need one of those TM bulk lot sales next year.

Down to 1601. Open to offers(sensible). Can ship up to five LPs in a mailer and have done bundles of around 12 to Auckland for the same price. Just got to keep the weight under 5 kg. Anything over $50 gets free freight but I do ask for a $5 contribution for packaging which is still less than my costs.
Everything can be viewed under my Discogs user name of cooksferry.

Don't see any in the For Sale section, only In Collection. Not sure how that works but 99% of the vinyl in the collection is for sale. Only hold out probably the big Gene Clark no other box.

I can't see my sale items using my phone but they used to show up on the computer. Unfortunately Discogs is playing silly buggers and not allowing me to log on via the computer at the moment.
