I'm curious. It seems to be an answer to some questions in my system. What can you say about it?
TIA, Dom

What questions ?
Looks decent.
Multiple inputs could be handy.
Hate rear mounted DIPs.

I'm currently using two Graham Slee Reflex preamps, one MM (mono) and one MC. I'm envisaging a simpler system and the VP3 seems to cover all those bases. So few phono-stages have two inputs or mono. Agreed, the dipswitches are a pain but at least they're external and I would most likely only need to set and forget.

A couple of brands with multi-input phono stages (Aesthetix, Audio Research) also offered full remote control But mega bucks Graham Slees are great sounding - I'd keep them unless you have a big budget.

The Project RS2 has two inputs and has done away with rear dip switches. www.project-audio.com/en/product/phono-box-rs2/Possible downside is one input is RCA and one balanced. I just arranged for Simon to wire my Wand Plus in balanced mode and problem solved.

word porridge ... ? cartridges are balanced until one side (say -ve) is connected to ground, wherever, (some carts had earthing straps) but obviously in entering an unbalanced RCA socket. So having balanced XLR inputs (and circuitry behind) should bring improvements.
Yes I was looking at the RS2 recently, consistent retail price in NZ.
and others on a search.

Are cartridges balanced ?
I was lead to believe otherwise by M Fremer and GaryM While phono cartridges âfloatâ ground, they are not âbalancedâ nor obviously are they dual-differential < isn't that essential for balanced operation ?
Hmmm
Anywhoo back to phono stages with multiple inputs...
If an Audio Research Ref is out of budget how about a Musical Fidelity M6x with 3 inputs

Feeling wealthy there's the Manley Steelhead with three inputs and lots of adjustable features. Pretty sure some years back I saw a second hand one at Soundline CHCH for about $5000 which would have been good buying. www.manley.com/hifi/mshlr

Just to back up the truck a tad, I'm not actually looking to spend monumental sums of money. Although there are some delicious looking options out there! Manley? Over my dead body. Hideous, fugly stuff and no, I don't care if it sounds good! The Slees do sound great ... but ... anyway, I need to re-site them. There's a hum I can hear that disappears when I unplug. Must be too close to my power amps.

That Manley does look very "industrial"

Is there an official agent in NZ ?
Humming phonos - check your cables too - tight is right !

Thanks MW, the plugs are definitely tight but they sit only a few inches above the QUAD ii power amps, on another shelf. My educated guess is they're picking up hum from the transformers.

Hmm indeed.
I was thrown a bit with "dual-differential" - it seemed to me a motoring gearbox term, or some such.
Come on, independent coils, unless earthed at the cartridge or by RCA sockets. I have a B&O SP14? cart here that has 5 output terminals. Another something with a strap. Read more about it:-
I'm sorry, salad or soup;- it was just a throwaway line;- it wasn't clear to me at the time. ;=})
Cheers!
