With the arrival of my 301, my WTA has been extremely neglected. I know some love extra arms and a variety of tt's, but I don't think it suits me. So rather than have it sitting collecting dust in the corner I am thinking of selling it. It's in pretty good condition although the insulation on the red cat lead has been broken when it got twisted, but when I took it to get repaired I was advised not to as it was still working well. It's about 7yrs old and has been great. So what do people think I should be asking for it? I haven't seen any on t/me for a while and can't quite remember what those went for either. I have the original boxes, but even so, I expect shipping will be a pain. Any tips? Thanks

roclI've found that if selling on Stereonet then having a price which includes shipping and Paypal seems to work better.

shipping a well tempered means removing the fluid from the armcup and bearing.

you might be able to seal the main bearing.
the arm cup definitely needs to be emptied as it has to be removed for shipping.
which means telling the buyer they will need to buy new silicon fluids or supply new fluid, available for soundline/denco.
if the buyer is picking up, the table can travel short distances in a car etc. with fluids intact.
just lock down the arm, protect stylus, remove platter and belt.

a fair price.
unless it's a local sale and doesn't require dis-assembly, i would drain all the fluids and supply some fresh refills.
once that silicon escapes it is a nightmare to clean up.

If its in the same island I would suggest getting in the car and collecting it in person. Having said that I had one and shipped it to its new keeper in Wellington without issue. Careful and considered packing is a must. When purchasing things on line we ALL rely on the sellers care to pack with a long trip in mind. If you wrapped it in $50 notes that would help with your sale possibly..?

If you wrapped it in $50 notes that would help with your sale possibly..? thanks for that. great selling feature! i looked in the wallet and i'm not sure that i have enough to completely wrap it. interested in the process you went through. i think wrapping some thickish plastic around the bath with a couple of rubber bands and then placing that into another plastic bag would suffice. michaelw i have some experience with that. after the feb quake it was dangling by the interconnects 300mm from the floor. fortunately i was at home and rescued it fairly quickly, but it took about 4 or 5 attempts to clean it completely. not nice!

Mine wasnt in the original box. I sent it with a client so it travelled safely with no twit couriers in the mix...dont start me on them!! .... Without wantingto state the obvious it is vitally important it stays in the upright position. Just make sure everything is packed tightly. Spending a bit of time here will save grief and possible tears... For what its worth carrier liabilty is a max of $1500 so anything over that if damaged is on the sender.

Can't be that hard to wrap the silicon bath in glad wrap, add a layer of wide sellotape, pop it in a small zip lock bag and Bob's your uncle. rocl, i hope it sells for heaps. Will bump up the resell price of mine. Or maybe I could take this opportunity to put on TardMe and undercut your price! "joking"

never underestimate the destructive abilities of courier companies ! i personally delivered my old wtt when i sold it, the old arm is much harder to dis-mantle and re-install than the Amadeus arms.

Excellent!
I see you were using a LPS. What difference did you experience using one, compared to the wallwart?

Excellent! I see you were using a LPS. What difference did you experience using one, compared to the wallwart? i didn't do a direct comparison. i went from the wallwart to the DPS and didn't notice a difference. i then started using an lps when a 12v slot was freed up. again, no critical listening and any difference was minor. have you compared?

No, just wondering if it was worth a try.
