For a 'Box' speaker, it seems to tick plenty of desirable attributes? (smart, proven designer, good efficiency, 10" woofer, point source, modest size etc.) I'm predicting this speaker will be anointed "classic" status in next to no time. Get ready for the usual ballyhoo. Detailed info. from the MoFi website: www.mofielectronics.com/sourcepoint10Mr. Guttenberg - Audiophilliac:

I like the sculptured faceted front baffle, but they still seem to have a sharp edge outer front frame, presumably to accommodate a grill cloth? I seem to recall some Sony speakers with faceted front baffles. Heresy? ;=})

Faceted front bafflles have been around since the late 1980s, Avalon Acoustics were early adopters.
Designed to minimize defraction, internal resonances etc.
To be listened to with grilles in place.
Very musical speakers, their only major weakness is locating the cable connectors under the speaker, a right PIA.
Back in the day they had close links to Spectral.
Similar looking Sonys from the 1990 were less faceted

Steve Guttenburg's review. Thanks for the interesting review link, even if after all a bit vague, much ado about not much. Of course I like too the coaxial speaker point source as well as the faceted baffles for both horizontal and vertical.

Thanks for the great pics.
Yes I remember Stereophile & Vintage Knob with the Sonys.

I liked, even loved earlier truncated pyramid builds like the Lambert Timekeepers too. Thought I might build some similar cabinets for a 3-way set of Wharfedale drive units & crossover I have, same volume, port, sculpted cabinet. Never got around to it. But I still have the drivers, crossovers, plywood, a table saw adjustable to 45° table slope.
Meanwhile I can finally afford to get my Sony G333ES bass and mid drivers surrounds replaced this or next week. Slightly faceted as well. I thought of a sloping top add-on...
That'll be a treat after all these years.
But yes the obvious strengths of the MoFi are the concentric drivers and symmetrical sculpted faceted front baffles, despite the edge I noticed and wondered about.

Quite the rant indeed!

I've owned several Kef speakers over the years so have a soft spot for concentric speakers.
A friend of mine has a pair on order, due early next year so will report back.
