Have noticed that the table sometimes momentarily slows down. Thought it was the LP slipping on the mat as the odd LP is a bit dished and does slip when I use the brush. Left it powered up for a couple of days this week and it didn't do it while listening yesterday. The strobe light also wavers when it happens. On both 33 and 44 rpm.
When I was given it a few years ago I replaced all the electrolytics. Any of you here know of someone who can look at/fix it if it continues? Thanks.

Did you replace the caps in the power supply too ? Where are you located ? When my one went on the fritz not long after I got it, I was recommended Gennady Lyskin by Nakmad. He's in Waikanae, Wellington. That's my SP10/2 on his website www.gennlab.com/index.html

Yes, all caps Michael. Thanks for that, I'll make a note of that info. Will see how it goes. Quite glad I've kept the 401 as well.At least I've got that! I'm in Hastings.

Latest....the SP10 started running fast all the time last week.Found that if I pushed down on the connector (testing with multimeter) going to the ttable output socket in the power supply, that the 32v voltage varied from 32 to 28 volts. Yesterday I fiddled more and found a dry joint near the connector. Repaired but still 28v. Tutooed with the trim pot and got 32v. So far all good. What a relief! Will get another trimpot just in case. Garage is full of "just in cases"!

Trimpots seem to get a bit flaky over time, usually if they have DC running through them. A few DD turntables have DC running through a pot for speed control. Poweramp bias setting trimpots also adjust DC for the output stage and can become unstable over many years. If you can, measure them and replace where possible.

Thanks Colin. The existing trimpot is a thin upright wafer looking one.Others I've seen are multi trimpots in a plastic body. Would one of those do or is it better to find another decent wafer type one? I know Jaycar have the wafer type but they don't look as solid as the existing one. I have the circuit diagrams for the Sp10/2 so have already found the value of the pot.

Multiturn pots are usually an upgrade from single turn ones, they just cost more, so aren’t as widely used in production.
