As a follow up to our podcast "What Is British HiFi?" Marc and Brian interview Jerry Bloomfield of Falcon Acoustics. Jerry has a vast history with the LS3/5a including its implementation, research, construction and original design goals dating back to its inception back in 1975. Licensed by the BBC to manufacturers, the LS3/5a has stood the test of time and proven to be one of the cornerstones of high fidelity's (and especially brit-fi) history." A speaker I've always liked the sound of. Very British! Funny though that I was always hankering after all things that the UK hifi scene espoused when in my younger years. But now that I can afford them I've got a nearly all USA based system!

But now that I can afford them I've got a nearly all USA based system! That’s why you need more than one stereo! 😬 The LS3/5a are wonderful little speakers, when operating within their limits, they can create magic. They are certainly a bucket list speaker, but probably not an end-game one I would have thought. I can’t comment on Kans, having never lived with a pair.

My dining room, now office, system is very 80's British based, PT1 turntable, Creek tuner, Audiolab 8000A, Gale 301s. 🙂

Very nice! Similarly, our “main” stereo is largely Japanese & American-made vintage gear now. The notable exception being a pair of large BBC inspired Rogers speakers, based on the LS5/8 ‘Grade I’ studio monitor. 🤓

I usually watch luthiery repairs from TWoodford in Canada but intently-viewing, listening and ironing is so multitasking.
