Bought a Google Chromecast for streaming tv shows a while ago. Works well, except for the sound quality.
The hdmi cable from the Chromecast is plugged directly to hdmi 4 input on the tv, and of course that cable carries picture and sound, thus we rely on the poor quality speakers built into the tv.
I have an Oppo 103 for Bluray/dvd, and also for you tube via its wifi dongle. The Oppo has a spare hdmi input., and it’s audio out is plugged directly to my amp.
Would I be able to plug the chromecast hdmi direct into that instead of the tv?

That's how I sometimes use my chromecast,
You get better sound and better picture as the HDMI input goes thru the OPPO's video processing.
Only fly is you need good wifi.
In my place connectivity is a bit better direct to TV, then HDMI ARC to my AVR.

Thanks Michael, will try it out when I can summons the energy to get on my knees and scrabble around in dark places to change the hdmi cable around.
