I was informed today by Stewarts daughter Zoe that Stewart had passed away after several years of ill health.
This is the email that she sent me:
It is with great sadness that I write to let you know of the sad passing of my father Stewart Tyler earlier this week.
Stewart had not been in the best of health over the past few years but still found the energy to tirelessly continue his lifelong passion for designing some of the most acclaimed loudspeakers the hi-fi industry, musicians and recording engineers have ever heard.
As we are sure you will appreciate, his contribution to the accurate and musical reproduction of our favourite songs and symphonies will always be appreciated by audiophiles and music lovers throughout the world with whom he left an indelible sonic mark though his unique ProAc designs that have earned international acclaim and won many awards since the brand’s inception in 1979.
He will of course be greatly missed and we want to take this opportunity to reassure you that his legacy will extend into the future.
The excellence of ProAc designs will continue under the direction of myself and John. We worked closely with Stewart over the last 25 years thus ensuring his work and influence continue to be felt as we enter a new phase of the ProAc story with John and I at the helm.
We know that many of you have known Stewart both professionally and personally over the last 40 plus years he was always very proud of the support, enthusiasm and joy of music you all shared with him.
It is with heavy hearts that we impart this sad news and your support is appreciated during this difficult time, please bear with me as we take in this sad news and I wish to reassure you all that the factory is still running and all orders are still in production, if you have emailed me over the last couple of days I will come back to you as soon as I possibly can with stock or order updates.
Thank you
Kind regards
Zoe, Frances, Tristan, John and all the ProAc family.
