A few of you have asked recently about AAS, I recently contacted AAS admin and asked for a couple of guys from this forum to be added to the email list, as of now this still hasn't happened, and for me this really is the final straw I have recently cancelled my membership with the club! For reasons that may be apparent to other members here and those that have attend the club, I won't spill all the details, but I will say, I and others felt it wasnt really an hifi club anymore, but more of a club dominated by certain individuals with their own agenda. I feel that a hifi club should be about the people and the music, and the hifi equipment is only really a tool for achieving the perfect reproduction, don't get me wrong, I eat, sleep and dream off sexy components lol So after speakering to alot to audio and music enthusiasts, and importers we have decided to put a hifi club event together, it wil be held once a month and will showcase products from importers and retailers, The idea is to also hold launch events for new products I have yet to speak to the other audio retailers but we are happy for them to showcase their products at the club to. After all its about the people and the music, Once the Facebook page is up and running we will hold votes for the equipment that people want to hear, as well as technical blogs, second hand hifi for sale etc etc Here is the link for the club, please note its not finished hence why it won't appear on Google search until we are happy to launch to the public, and yes we know there a few spelling mistakes and font issues but it's close www.aucklandhificlub.com/Bringing people and music together Deano

Good luck Deano ! The last time audio distributors got together was back in the 90s when Mike Jones organised hi-fi shows.

Good on you for starting this club.
I hope its a great success. The hurdle will be overcoming the perception that its a retailer outlet.

Upto the members to bring along your favorites, everyone has their own tastes, Don't want to dominate with a particular genre, also by everyone bringing their own, people get to hear new artists and tracks

May I cheekily put forward a suggestion⦠what about the odd hosted, in-home gathering with music, beer and BBQ?
Could be once a quarter, someone offers up to host, those interested put in some coin towards food, drink, transport? People can bring music or components to test out with the hostβs system.
I would be more than happy to host one time. Could be a good opportunity to shift host responsibility around, listen to others systems etc.

To add, Iβd be more than happy when hosting for Deano to bring along a Luxman amp as demoβ¦ hopefully he wonβt notice the bricks in the box when he packs it into the car π€£

I'm more interested in listening to thoughtfully put together systems than listening to single and most often new components with what (whatever is too strong) is to hand. Then, talking about it. Remember the old chestnut about a crowd guessing the weight of an ox (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wisdom_of_Crowds)in which the median opinion was the most accurate? Not forgetting enjoying the music. And wine.

βLoungβ is a bit like βDancβ...
Itβs just not the same without an βeβ! π
(But looks like a seriously awesome evening & gear line-up! Well done Deano!)

There's a typo on the website;- scroll down to the venue details. It should be The Lounge Room - not The Loung Room.
(Actually the typeface is so tight I had to peer to make sure there were spaces between words, too. But there are. ;=}) )

That's odd, I can't seem to "like" the Auckland Hifi Club Facebook page. There is no 'Like' tab that I can see. Does this mean I'm a boomer?

"Good Afternoon Ladies & Gentlemen We are proud to announce the 2nd session of the Auckland Hi-Fi Club, Thursday 1st July, please refer to our website for the program details and also the address for the event. Also if you so inclined please grab a cool piece of kit from our merchandise, remember all proceeds help go towards the rental cost of the venue, it's a great looking merch and it also helps us spread the word about the club out there in the big wide world.
Last month was epic with over 30 people attending the night was excellent with so many different genres of music being heard.
Please remember, we always want to hear your selections, so don't be shy in requesting what you want to hear, it's never too strange or bizarre, we all have our own guilty pleasures lol and we love new music it expands all our horizons,
So until Thursday the 1st, ciao for now, and keep spinning whatever format you love
Album of the month
Melody Gardot β Sunset in the Blue (Decca Recordings)
On Sunset in the Blue, Gardot is in torrid torch-song mode with nine of her most swoonsome performances detailing passion and desire cushioned by the strings of the Royal Philharmonic. For one song, From Paris with Love, she uses musicians auditioned during lockdown beaming in their parts from around the world, A beautiful recorded album - Track 1 is a favorite
