"A Short Run" was exhibited in Grey Lynn a few years ago Lathe cut records are unfortunately suitable only for lo-fi audio projects. peterkinglathecutrecords.co.nz/info.htmNo longer making records due to poor eyesight.

I vaguely recall Peter King Lathe Cut Records on the news, discussed on the AEnz forum. Sad to hear that he is not ongoing due to poor eyesight.

Vinyl and forged doesn't belong in the same sentence unless you're making fruit bowls.

I have one of his records - Plums - The Blue Onsies. The digital copy sounds quite good (for the typical lo-fi indie product) but the polycarbonate sounds shit.
We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.

Yeah, the lathe cuts are really only good for lo-fi productions

Yeah, I have this limited edition Peter King pressing of Reduction Agents (aka Lawrence Arabia) "80's Celelebration" that featured on the Taika Waititi movie "Eagle vs Shark" soundtrack. Unfortunately, as papahemi and Citroen have already stated - not the best sounding record. But, it was a door giveaway. So... gift horse, teeth, etc. My friends also used them to press up (or, technically, lathe cut) a limited run recording of their wedding band - a jazz ensemble featuring Lewis McCallum on sax. Again, an awesome souvenir of their special day... but not very hi-fi! Interesting to see Aldous Harding's 2014 debut hanging up in the background of foveaux's first post. I just have the standard Flying Nun repress, and it's a great album, but i note the value of the AU/NZ first pressing is surprisingly valued at >NZ$100.

It wasn't very good. From memory off centre, edge not cut off properly, and noisey. Hope the second press was better!

Aldous can be a bit “marmite”, but I’m definitely a fan. Reissue sounds fine!
