I bought these a few years ago along with some spare drivers. T27’s and Coles super-tweeters weren’t going. But it was more than a speaker swap - the crossovers were shot. After a long delay both for delivery and installation the new Falcon crossovers are in and going well. I have one Coles open-circuit to fix or source a spare for, but in listening I can hardly tell the difference. A bit of false start with lack of left-right balance, but it turned out to be a source component.
Wonderful synergy with the A&R Cambridge A60 amp and the Arcam Alpha Plus CD player (TDA-1541a - and very well implemented) - so much power. The Technics SL-1100 is running an Audio-Technica AT30E MC cart (MC installed in A60). The Apple Airport Express is fed to the Parasound D/AC-1100 with its PCM63 chips - so reasonably contemporary. Next project is to assemble a Raspberry Pi Roon endpoint that will feed 24bit to the Pararsound (which has 24bit chips installed).
There’s a heap of non-connected stuff there as well in that pile, but essentially stuff with a “light on” is connected.
I do enjoy the transmission lines. Room is a bit small for them but the way I would say it is, “normal speakers push sound at you, and it can get tiring - with transmission lines the whole range of the sound is just “in the room” - you get good bass that flows in a fully integrated way with the full sound spectrum - its just sound in the room with you”
Anyway, a long delayed project now up and running, and again, the synergy between the R50’s the A60 and and the Arcam Alpha Plus CD player is just superb - enjoying CD’s again.
