www.trademe.co.nz/2974765579Regardless of the asking price which is a different discussion, i am wondering if this turntable is as good as the seller describes it. I never had am Elan but based on the spec and construction i can't think that its anything special. The seller is raving about it. Any experience or thoughts? Cheers Dimitrios

Sigh ... the exchange above triggered my remorse button .... I had one of those last century. I (literally) threw it out at the tip because I was suckered into the "CD is the future" hype. That act is up there with many things, usually involving alcohol, that I wish I'd never done. Luckily I never got rid of any vinyl.

To be honest I don't think I could add anything to the sum of knowledge. We parted ways more than 30 years ago. I thought it was the bees knees but in truth I had nothing to compare it with. I think I remember buying it in Palmerston North although I wouldn't swear to that.
Looking at the pictures I think the first act would be to replace the arm.
It was partnered with Quad 33/405 amplification and Kef Kit 104ab speakers.
.. and then along came CD

They are a good turntable of yesteryear. The sort of turntable that is great for those that are into 78's, as they have a stacker, you can put half a dozen records on and as one finishes, the arm swings back, a record plops down, the arm returns to play the next one etc As to the comparison to those great turntables noted, they are worth heaps more than one of these. Rather than mention Garrard 301, it is probably more like a Garrard Zero 100
