Stacked Quads? Serious LP collection. Can't identify the two arm TT or silver amplifier, presume not included in sale. Nice place to be locked down in, perhaps even snowed in?

Yes. One guesses it wouldn't be included. ๐

Looks a bit like a replinthed empire going by the colour of it. The amp has something of a fisher dyanaco look to it, though when I saw the power amp I thought maybe Marantz 9 ? LP shelves look a big saggy, but I daresay that at 2 and a quarter million quid you would have enough left in the piggy bank to fix them ?

Yeah, I disapprove of "saggy" leaning LP's too. If you can't fill the shelves, at least get some bookends, likely best even thin metal right angle ones, to hold them up straight!

Indeed it is... Marantz Model 7 preamp! Damned fine collection. My guess is that there's a vintage Marantz tube amp lurking down below

Those stacked Quads are a nasty load I hear, need a tube amp. SS amps need not apply (unless you're a Quad 303/405/606). Lifetime membership to this forum if you can correctly identify the pickup cartridges Looks to me like a DL-103 on the Durand.

Yes, 103 or 103R.
I think the back one may be an Hana SL (very blurred so happy to be wrong)

No mention of stereo in the chattels, but 18 mins from St Pancras, still a bargain.

Wow, you did well! Considering that this was what came out of a blow-up of one of the original photos:
But another one showed it more completely, and what looks like a (Marantz also?) power amp below, circled.
And there's another perhaps piece of equipment partially hidden here.
Oh well! Some fun admiring and imagining living there!
Undoubtedly some happy times were had around that kitchen table ;-)

Love the turntable. Graham, thatโs not one of your plinths is it? My little 50w mosfet amp drives Quads fine.

OK, confirmed - those are a pair of rather sought-after Marantz Model 9 monos - an original vintage (not reissue) pair is listed on ebay for US$19000

Great detective work guys ! Leaning records... ugh ! Not sure Quad SS would drive stacked Quads, they are barely capable of running single 57s

Yeo - thanks for all the answers ๐ I would've thought stacked Quads would represent an easier load to an amplifier like the way two drivers in parallel would double the impedance - or perhaps I am completely off track lol.

Two in parallel = half the impedance. Down to 0.9 ohms I read (In the HF end.)

You could do a stack in series too Back in the day the Mark Levinson ML2 (25wpc Class A) was a popular amp to use with stacked Quads.
And there are various ways to stack them... like the set in the house ad or...
