Real ones seem to be about $7 to $10,000.
That's only double to triple the replica.

Yup! Now seem to be $3k at Nood, possibly different supplier too, it looks like. The Nood one is pretty good - I've seen some random ones. Look closely at replicas - the plywood shell, the leather, the cushioning foam, the legs, the connection between seat & back (a glued rubber connector)... Find a real one to sit in, if you can. Most replicas seem to be copies of the licensed European Vitra manufactured Eames, not the USA Herman Miller Eames (slightly different metal base detailing).

Damn fakes...burn them all!! Shouldnt be allowed to use the Eames name. I bet they dont pay any royalty to do so

To be fair, I dont think they mention Eames at all, its a mid century piece of furniture. I was looking at this exact chair about 3 years ago when I was doing my music room and they were the same price then as what they are now "on Special". My wife was keen to buy one but I went in a different direction as I needed something less sonically enveloping.

Post by andrewp on Feb 3, 2021 23:01:47 GMT 12
Whether they name it or not its a total copy/rip off of the Eames product on every day of the week and shouldnt be allowed,,.period!!

Love the Eames and replicas but I prefer a more upright seating position for listening.

Up till recently (I think 2011/2006 EU/UK), copyright protection lasted only 50/25 years. - now 75 years. That's probably why the replica guys copy the Euro Vitra version of the Eames (some small differences), not the Herman Miller in USA (which has longer copyright I believe). I think the Eames Lounge with Ottoman is the perfect design (shape, height, armrests, materials, swivel, comfort) for listening, no 'acoustic' issues around headrest height...

Love my "Eames". Had it many years now. Back when I purchased it the internet thing was a very new toy. Freight from the US was nearly as much as the chair and ottoman itself! It was sitting on my front lawn when I got home from work one day. Perched on a pallet with 9km of plastic wrap around it!
