Reminiscing 2 of the 'Prunes psych masterpieces again, especially for this new year. Touchstones for psyche fanboys? surely yes? I'll always have both on my 'best ever' singles playlist. Here's the outright classic, with one of the best song titles for the period - " I Had Too Much To Dream Last Night" and " Kyrie Eleison" - this especially for the guitar work of Ken Williams.
"I see music as a lifetime affair." [Rory Gallagher]
"Free - I miss that band, but when I look back, we were very young" [Paul Rodgers]

At 14-15 in the 4th Form at boarding school in 1967 when this was big on the airwaves here, albeit released late 66 I think, I listened to
The Electric Prunes "I Had Too Much To Dream Last Night" on a National portable transistor radio, along with a lot of other songs of that period, and it became clear to me that there was a world out there that they weren't teaching us about in lessons. Good to have both though!
Maybe this is from an original studio version, on a quick look, sounds leaner?
I prefer the original term psychedelic, the beautiful Greek word psyche as shorthand also gets applied to psychiatric wards or used for for mental patients!
Maybe more psychedelic songs of the era?
Crimson and Clover - Tommy James & The Shondells
Cheers and thanks for the memories! ;=})
