Hi - Just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. I came across this forum when I was googling ideas for a new turntable plinth for my next project. Lots of great info and contributions here and look forward to reading and contributing myself. A bit of a summary of my current system which is a mix of DIY and purchased :
Main system
Loudspeakers
ER Audio Acorns - great ESL speaker kits made right here in Perth, I installed in a combination of stainless steel frames and two pack enclosures
Bass supplemented by two Ripoles built in Birch Ply
Power Amps
The speakers are all active (analog active) so the mid and high ESL panels are fed from DIY Pass Aleph 4 mono blocks
The low and sub are fed from Hypex ncore amps built into the enclosures
Pre Amp
A Supratek Dual Cabernet (also built here in WA) - this has separate tube stages for the low signal and the mid/high signal so it is great for dialing in exactly the level of bass you want for your room/taste/etc
Sources
Vinyl
Luxman PD444 with a Dynavector DV505 arm and DL103 stylus modded by Expert Stylus in the UK. Second arm is an AT1100 fitted with an AT MC cart
Phono Pre is a DIY Pass XONO
CD
Sony ESD337 (with the TDA1541A chip) - I put custom side cheeks on this in local Sheoak
DAC
Audial Aya with the TDA1541A chip (favourite chip!), using SOTM SMS200 network streaming and Roon/Tidal off a Mac Mini
Tape
Sony APR5003 Reel to Reel playing mostly jazz from Jonathan Horwich
Current Project
I have just had a Technics SP10 MK2 rebuilt and am currently looking for plinth ideas. Given I have a Terminator Trans Fi tonearm and SME 3012 tonearm to install on this it looks like I have come to the right place!
Cheers all
Matt
