My current gear is low-mid end, and changes around fairly often. I have some 90s Wharfedale CR-40 speakers(currently awaiting new tweeters, as they were damaged when I bought the speakers for almost nothing), used with a basic HT amp. The rest is either just digital music, a basic tape deck, or whatever record player or other device I'm playing around with at the time. I buy quite a lot of older second hand gear, and fix/maintain/upgrade them, some to sell & some to keep. Not really worth the time involved to sell them, but it's nice to keep the older stuff going in good condition.

Welcome aboard.
I'm sure your experience in fixing older gear will be helpful to a lot of members here. Its great to see more people maintain rather than replace the older stuff.

Thanks, usually my repairs are pretty basic though. Occasionally I find some things that maybe useful though, such as using interior car bulbs to replace backlight bulbs in old amps etc (assuming people want to keep the original style, instead of changing to LED).

Welcome. I like keeping the old gear running nicely as well. They’re getting old now and typically need to be checked over regularly.

Always good to add another member, welcome.
Always stop in Timaru on our way north. One of my wife's favourite spots is sitting at a cafe top of the hill over looking Caroline Bay. The trees have a mediterranean feel . Is the little record shop on the south end of Stafford st still there? Don't think I saw it on my last drive.

I actually live outside of Timaru city itself, but I'm not too far away. It looks like the record shop('at last records') has closed unfortunately: www.facebook.com/AtLastRecordsTimaru/about/Apparently the owner moved back to Australia.

Hi from Napier. I like your 'not worth the time' attitude. I often obsess about things that are not worth my time (sanding to 800 grit when 200 is plenty). I guess the journey is as much fun as the destination!
