Isnt the current model around $10k NZD ? Very no, the Majik is way cheaper than that.
However, one could certainly spend $10k on an LP12

1. What type of tree or wood is 'Rosenut'? 2. Their Technics SP-25 may be worth considering - a beautiful piece, to my eye & I doubt that it's performance would be worth only a small fraction of that of a Linn (even if you have to add a decent tonearm). (Sorry, this digression should migrate to the Trade Me discussion corner).

'Red Walnut' might be a more informative description. The facts are probably that real Rosewood has not been widely available (legally) for years & this is an alternative for those who want that particular look. Unless things have changed, I'd expect Linn TTs to still be built with solid wood plinths - certainly for NZ$6,500 to NZ$14k I'd expect solid wood.

It's been a while since I owned a Sondek LP12 (25+ years) but incredibly the LP12 is still going - available in 3 different level options - Majik / Akurate / Klimax. The Majik LP12 is LINN's 'entry level' model with: - Same solid wood plinth on all models - Press-formed aluminium sub-chassis (not CNC machined solid alloy) - Latest Karousel main bearing (same on all models) - Plain aluminium base board (not Trampolin 'suspension' base) - Internal PSU (not external Lingo or Radikal PSU/phono stage) - AC synchronous motor (not 12v synchronous or DC motor) - Krane tonearm (not Akito or Ekos SE tonearms) - Adikt MM cartridge fitted (not MC cartridge) US$4995 / £2350 / NZ$6500 RESISTOR magazine (Rafe Arnott) reviews the Majik LP12 (with Majik tonearm, not with the above Krane tonearm unfortunately): ".. the LP12 Majik delivers on the expectation of emotional engagement. " " This record player does what one is supposed to do: it delivers dynamic, compelling and lifelike performances, not approximations of them. "

Linn dynamic ?
I hate pretty looking setups like that, having to reach over gear to get to your turntable is just asking for trouble, especially at this time of year when the libations flow freely.
