Question for any Ikea users . What is the quality of the product like, ie do the items hold together ok, peeling finish etc. Been cataloging my music book and need to add another slim, tall, bookcase and Ikea list one. I could build one using dressed pine for about the same price(inc freight) but it's less hassle just assembling a flat pack.

Have a 4x4 Expedit for record storage. Must be about 10 years old, no signs of peeling, solid, no warping. Pretty utilitarian.

I’ve been using Ikea Kallax bookcases for record storage for quite a while now. They seem lightweight, made of boxed construction, but they’re sturdy. Ikea recommends to attach them to a rear wall for stability (and in NZ, earthquakes!) and provide brackets for that. I also use the classic Poäng listening chair. I love the way it has a bit of bounce to it, great when the rhythm of what you’re playing happens to be the rate at which you bounce in the chair! Quality is fine. They don’t have Ikea in NZ do they? Our closest store here is in Exeter, it’s enormous!

Lots of queues here at the moment as Ikea and other stores attempt to allow fewer people in at any one time. Here’s a pic we took of the Exeter Ikea under cover carpark. It’s been turned into a waiting hall for customers. The metal fences to guide you extend to about half the carpark!
