It's been 20 years since Cocteau Twins hit mainstream success & then splitting up soon after. The Absolute Sound's Greg Cahill reports on numerous artists who have since " fallen under the spell of the Cocteau Twins". Including, according to TAS - Angelo Badalamenti (Twin Peaks), Massive Attack, Sufjan Stevens, My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, (NZ singer/songwriter) Tamaryn & (NZ film-maker) Peter Jackson.

I think they hit mainstream success with their 1990 album Heaven or Las Vegas, so 30 years, not 20 They split in 1997. I'm a fan of all those bands that have "fallen under the spell", except Tamaryn. Only because I've never heard of her before, so she's on my need to check out list. Thanks for the reminder. Breaking out my vinyl boxset that I haven't listened to for a while.

I've always adored their album cover art too...
"I see music as a lifetime affair." [Rory Gallagher]
"Free - I miss that band, but when I look back, we were very young" [Paul Rodgers]
