I thought there were prior posts about this, but a search gave no result.
as mentioned in another post about my new set up, I now have the above digital server/streamer.
Bought during lockdown, but due to hospital issues it sat around for a while before I got around to setting it up.
Also, this past week, it sat there while I dealt with a certain trepidation about setting things up! first I had to buy a wifi extender with Ethernet out and install it close by. Fortunately it was relatively easy get set up and connect to my existing network and iPad.
Then the not not so fun part. Had to download and install an Apple app - iPeng to turn my iPad into a remote controller and to keep track of my ripped library.. the app erroneously told me if I wanted to have music over my player I had to download an in-app add on, so I did. Wrong! I later found that the add on enabled playback over mobile devices, and was stuck for ages trying to work out why I was getting music on my iPad, but silence from my stereo system! Five or six hours of mucking around trying to work out what I had done wrong!
Had to email iPeng and Innuos support, which took 24 hours to get replies! But sorted, went to settings, player, and deleted iPad as player, inserted the zen mini as player and finally music!
Ashamed to say if my 18 yr old grandson, or my 8 and 14 hr old great grandsons had been here it would have been done in minutes instead of 48 hours.
not to sure if I want to go down the track of connecting a streaming service now I know how difficult it can be! Although I did successfully download and install Google Chromecast last year without problems - except I have forgotten how I did it as now want to install it on my housemates iPad so she doesn’t have to rely on me being around in order to stream tv.!
Busy ripping CDs to the zen mini, and have done a trial playback on a couple. Impressed, despite the fact I do not have the recommended power supply upgrade at retail circa $1200, just using the standard wall wart. The sound so far seems a tad better than my old CD player, purchased new in 1997 for $2500, which says a lot for advances in technology with resulting lower prices. The zen mini retails for circa $2200, but got mine on runout for$1200 from Terry at Reference Audio.
I can recommend the product. Foveaux also has one, but with the upgraded power supply.
