" ... the switch comes two weeks after another country group, the former Lady Antebellum, changed its name to Lady A. That change was accompanied by a social media statement in which Lady A said that the country's recent attempts to reckon with racial justice issues had made the band members' eyes open wide to inequality. " ( BBC - 25 June 2020) “ A sincere and heartfelt thank you goes out to ‘The Chicks’ of NZ for their gracious gesture in allowing us to share their name. We are honored to co-exist together in the world with these exceptionally talented sisters. Chicks Rock! ” ( Pitchfork - 25 June 2020) (Big Dixie Chicks fan here , not least because of their ballsy 2003 stand against the US invasion of Iraq.)

We might feel similar if we lived in USA right now. Instead of in our relatively tranquil comfort downunder here.

I'm sure with a bit more thought they could have come up with a better name. Chicks is a little bland for a group who couldn't be accused of that. The word chick applied to females is rather 1960s.
As a ps saw the NZ Chicks in concert at Ingill Civic theatre about 1967 but don't remember a thing. May have been backed by Max Merritt and the Meteors.
