I’m in the market for a new power board for my 2 channel system to replace my solidly constructed 30 year old metal one with 4 wall type sockets and which I fitted a 15 amp input cable to match my individual equipment cables. I now need more sockets as the double adapters are piling up! Many of the current boards are very flimsy inside around the sockets so am interested to know if you have found a good one. 

One can spend anything from a few, to thousands of dollars, but really I’m only looking for an extension of the wall socket with perhaps some surge protection and RF/EMI rejection. Do you consider those last two things important in your choice of board?

I am assuming that you have a single wall socket with 4-6 way power socket 'board' attached?

My personal opinion is, the less in the way of the current supply, the better (mains noise there is for sure, but best to deal with that elsewhere (at the device), rather than 'throw baby out with bath water' by introducing filters, protection ccts, etc. at the supply socket).

So, using the humble stacking 3-pin plug (which introduces the minimum of extra internal mechanical (brass) connections), is not a bad way to multiply plug connectors.

Alternatively, multiply the sockets at the wall using (i) dble wall sockets or (ii) additional wall socket/s - both these require an electrician usually of course.

Sometimes, if your system is Grounding-fussy, your choice of connection to wall or power board/s (ie connect to Mains Earth) may affect noise/hum.

IMO only, others may have different experience.

naim nz tapon style plugs ?

Thanks for the advice Owen and Michael, I'll fit a new 5-way wall socket and PDL 940 tapon plugs on the equipment chords. The PDL 940's have been on the market for over 40 years now and I didn't realise they were still available. Black or white.
